What is a Concert Band?

A concert band is a group of seven or more musicians that play brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments in a large ensemble setting.

In the 1800's, large musical ensembles mainly existed in the military, for ceremonial and festive occasions.

Today, concert bands exist all over the world in various formats. However, most musicians volunteer and do not get paid. Professional concert bands do exist, but they only accept the very best musicians. Competition for a seat in a professional concert band is extremely high and openings do not become available very often.
